New York Botanical Garden

The New York Botanical Garden is one of my favorite destinations. So many photo opportunities! This was the first time I'd ever been there in November, however, and I wasn't expecting much. But to my amazement, the gardens were beautiful with fall leaves and flowers! Mums, of course, I expected ... but dahlias and daisies and so much more. Their landscapers and gardeners are real artists; note how so many areas have layers and layers of flowers and plants, making for beautiful views and beautiful photographs.

I was also surprised at the number of insects on the flowers at this time of the year. It was quite cool, so they moved around slowly, making it much easier than usual to include them in some of the photos. It was almost like they were posing for me.

Chicago 2009

These photos were taken on a seven day tour, Oct. 4-10, 2009, from eastern PA to Chicago, IL. On the way out we did a tour of Notre Dame University (first seven photos), and on the way back we toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (including the museum and a lap around the track!), and the Longaberger Homestead in Ohio. It was a great trip; photos of the group were taken on the stairs at Longaberger's corporate headquarters -- the basket building.

Fallingwater & Ligonier, PA

This two-day tour began at Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater near Ohiopyle, PA. I've been here a number of times before, only took a few photos here this time to experiment with my new 70-300mm telephoto zoom. Then on to a tour of Compass Inn in Laughlintown, PA, a very photogenic restored stagecoach inn from the early 1800's. Day two began at Fort Ligonier, another great stop, and after some free time to shop in downtown Ligonier, concluded with a visit to Kentuck Knob, another Frank Lloyd Wright home near Fallingwater. On the way there we stopped for a photo opportunity at the beautiful falls on the Youghigheny River in Ohiopyle, PA.

Mystery Tour - Duke Farms and Clinton, NJ
